Havre wrestling takes sixth at Eastern A Divisional 

This past weekend in Hardin, the Havre High wrestling teams finally began the postseason with the Eastern A Divisional. As their wrestlers looked to place in order to qualify for the Class A State Tournament, the boys team took sixth in its tournament while the girls team finished third.

The HHS boys wrestling team scored 160.5 total points to finish sixth in its tournament. Laurel took first with 278 total points while Lockwood finished second and Sidney/Fairview took third. Over the weekend, several Blue Ponies wrestled well to place and advance to state.

Reinhard Bold finished second for the Ponies as he wrestled in the 152-pound weight class. He started his run with pins against Brendin Fiscus from Lewistown and Landon Navarro from East Helena. Then in the semifinal, Bold pinned Logan Knaub from Laurel.

At 285 pounds, Tommy Lewis also finished second for the Ponies. He started the weekend with pins against Alex Fletcher from Three Forks/Ennis and Tye Brown from Laurel. In the semifinal match, Lewis pinned Laurel’s Brody VanDyke.

Tristian Stygles finished fourth for Havre at 145 pounds. In the consolation bracket, Stygles pinned Holden Bankert from Livingston and then won by a 17-1 technical fall over Johnny Paxson from Miles City. In the consolation semifinal, Stygles pinned Luke Knaub from Laurel.

At 170 pounds, Landen Caplette took fourth for Havre. In the consolation bracket, Caplette pinned Pedro Martignoni from Lewistown and Cooper Dighans from East Helena. In the consolation semi, Caplette pinned Tucker Shepardson from Livingston.

Pierce Caplette finished fourth for the Ponies at 205 pounds. In the quarterfinal, Caplette pinned Nate Goodluck from Hardin. Then in the consolation semifinal match, Caplette pinned Jack Pallett from Lewistown.

At 126 pounds, Reed Mantle took fifth at the tournament. He started the weekend with pins against Jarod Bowen from Lockwood and Jacob Murphy from Three Forks/Ennis. In the fifth-place match, Mantle won a 7-1 decision against Sebastian Mogan from Laurel.

Matt Lemer also finished fifth as he wrestled at 132 pounds. He started his runs with a pin against Jack Gillen from Lewistown and a 6-4 decision against Tatum Todd from Three Forks/Ennis. In the fifth-place bout, Lemer won a 7-2 decision over Todd.

At 138 pounds, Carson Harris finished sixth for Havre. He started the weekend with a pin against Brady Hoverson from Miles City. Then in the consolation bracket, Harris pinned Eddie Arciga from Lockwood and then won a 13-7 decision over Hoverson.

Havre’s Isaiah Otto finished seventh wrestling at 132 pounds. He started the weekend with a pin against Maddox Malloy from Miles City. In the consolation bracket, Otto won a 4-3 decision against Sonny Silverthorne from East Helena. In the seventh-place match, Otto pinned Malloy again.

At 205 pounds, Mason Wilting took seventh for the Ponies. He started the tournament with a pin against Randy Pyfer from Three Forks/Ennis. In a consolation match, Wilting pinned Adoniah Kirchdoerfer from East Helena. In the seventh-place bout, Wilting pinned Trey Daly from Lockwood.

Grady Haney finished eighth for Havre as he wrestled at 126 pounds. He started the weekend with a pin against Swayde Schindler from Hardin. Then in a consolation match, Haney pinned Bowen from Lockwood.

The HHS girls team also began the postseason with the Eastern A Divisional this past weekend. In Hardin, the Ponies scored 98 team points to finish third in the tournament. Miles City took first with 218 total points while Lockwood finished second.

Aliyah Stiffarm took first for the Ponies as she wrestled at 235 pounds. In the first-place match, Stiffarm pinned Saige Kelly from Miles City. Her teammate Allyson Kaul finished second at 100 pounds while Poloma Padilla took second at 145 pounds. In her semifinal match, Padilla pinned Chelsea Morris from Hardin.

At 114 pounds, McKenna Caplette finished third as she won a 7-5 decision against Bailee Shepardson from Livingston in the third-place match. Angelina Siebanaller also took third for Havre as she wrestled at 185 pounds.

Brooklyn Wilting took fourth wrestling at 120 pounds. She started the tournament with a pin against Grace Hicks from Lewistown. Then in a consolation match, Wilting won a 10-1 major decision over Elizabeth Beiber from Lockwood. At 126 pounds, Brooklyn Nelson took fourth for Havre. She first pinned Livingston’s Reagan Hammond in the quarterfinal and then pinned Miles City’s Sloan Cartwright in the consolation semifinal.

The HHS wrestling teams will wrap up the season with the Class A State Tournament at the Metra in Billings starting this Friday.
