Havre basketball set for busy conference weekend

With the postseason right around the corner, the Havre High boys and girls basketball teams are looking to get on a roll to end the regular season. The Blue Ponies will have a chance to do that this weekend as both teams get a pair of conference games. Tonight, both teams will face Lewistown at home at Havre High Gymnasium. Then Saturday, both squads will go on the road to face Sidney.

The HHS girls basketball team will get its weekend started with a home game against Lewistown tonight. The Golden Eagles come to the Hi-Line with a 7-8 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the Northeast A. If Lewistown is going to compete with Havre, it will need its top player Lexy Burnham to get going.

On Saturday, the HHS girls team will head on the road to face Sidney. The Eagles are off to a 7-8 start this season with a 3-4 conference record and they have already suffered a 54-32 loss to Havre this season. As they look to even the series, the Eagles will rely on players such as Ave' Norby and Savanna Anderson.

The HHS girls basketball team heads into the weekend with an 11-3 record and a 3-1 record in the Northeast A. As the Ponies look to improve their record in conference play, they will look to Amaya Jarvis and Ariana Gary to continue their strong seasons.

The HHS boys basketball team will start its weekend with a home game against Lewistown tonight. The Golden Eagles come to Havre with a 5-9 record and a 3-1 start to Northeast A competition. Their best player this season has been Brody Jenness, who will look to play well tonight against Havre.

The HHS boys team will then head on the road to face Sidney this Saturday. The Eagles will look to improve on their 6-10 record and 1-6 start to conference play. But their lone win came against Havre in a 65-55 victory on the Hi-Line last month. If the Eagles are going to get the season sweep, they will need players such as Braylon Difonzo and Kevin Hutzenbiler to step up.

The Ponies head into the weekend with an overall record of 10-4 and a conference record of 3-1 this winter. As the Ponies look to take control of the Northeast A this weekend, they will need the likes of Tre Gary and Kash Keller to play well.

Tonight at HHS Gymnasium, the HHS girls basketball team will face Lewistown at 4 p.m. and then the HHS boys basketball team will play Lewistown right after at 5:30 p.m.

Then Saturday at Sidney, the HHS boys team will play first at 4 p.m. and the HHS girls team will play at 5:30 p.m.
