Obituary - Margaret Ramona Maze

After a long, valiant battle with dementia, Margaret Ramona Maze passed away at the Care and Comfort Home in Havre with her son and daughter at her side Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Margaret and her twin sister, Marlene, joined older sister Juanita November 6, 1933. Her parents were Lorraine and Henry DeMars. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Havre, attending local schools and graduating from Havre High School in 1952. She met and married the love of her life, Norman Maze, December 8, 1951. They were blessed with three sons and a daughter.

Margaret worked as a grocery store clerk and bookkeeper in several local stores. She then went to work for Hill County Electric and retired from there.

Margaret was a dedicated mother, serving as Girl Scout troop leader for her daughter and Cub Scout den mother for each of her three sons. Her homemade Halloween costumes were the envy of her children's friends, and she donated countless hours to her church.

Margaret loved people; there was nothing she liked more than socializing with friends and families and helping anyone who needed her. She often worked silently behind the scenes to help others in their times of need.

Following retirement, she and Norman enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to visit grandchildren in Wyoming and wintering with the "Havre Bunch" in Arizona. She was an amazing, doting grandmother to Christopher and Sarah, spoiling them to no end with trips to the pool, Yummy Yogurt, minigolf, the park, and anywhere they asked to go. Margaret loved her family, her church, music, bowling, the occasional game of Keno, flowers, butterflies, and life itself and she lived it well. She will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Norman; her sons William and James, and her sister Juanita.

Margaret is survived by daughter, Lucinda of Havre; son Tim (Meg) of Ranchester, WY; grandchildren, Christopher Maze of Crested Butte, CO, and Sarah (Ian) Zerbe of Lander, WY; twin sister, Marlene (Robert) Jewell of Helena, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Margaret's honor can be sent to Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, Care and Comfort Home Services or to a person's choice.

Cremation has taken place and Margaret's memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Van Orsdel Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
