Lights ink wrestling, rodeo standouts

The MSU-Northern wrestling team, of head coach Tyson Thivierge, recently added a great wrestler to the program in Ronan's Landon Bishop.

Bishop was a three-time state placer and a 2024 state Class A champion at 170 pounds for the Chiefs. He's expected to compete in the upper weights for the Lights.

Meanwhile, Rodeo Head Coach Doug Kallenberger recently announced the signing of Colter Froshaug to join the Lights program next year.

Froshaug is 6-5 steer wrestler and team roper from Minton, Saskatchewan. He attended school at Gladmar Regional High School in Gladmar, Sk.

In 2021, Colter was the Champion steer wrestler in the Canadian High School Rodeo Finals Reserve. Froshaug also won the Saskatchewan High School Rodeo Association in Steer Wrestling in 2022 and 2023. He qualified for the National High School Rodeo Association Finals in steer wrestling in 2022 and 2023. Froshaug also qualified for the Canadian Cowboys Association Finals in Steer Wrestling.

While Colter is at Northern, he will be majoring in diesel technology. He is the son of Ryan and Carla Froshaug.

When asked why he chose Northern he replied: "I chose MSUN because it is close to home, it has a quality rodeo team and a rodeo coach with a great reputation, and because the new Diesel Technology building is very impressive"
