  • No bomb found, Wal-Mart reopens

    The Havre Wal-Mart store will reopen today after no explosive device was found on or near the store. A 1:44 p.m. Wednesday, store personnel called 9-1-1 to report that they had received a bomb threat. After speaking with store personnel, Hill County Sheriff's Deputies determined that the threat was legitimate. The store was closed, and customers and employees were promptly evacuated.   • Colorado man pleads guilty to oil patch murder

    SIDNEY — A Colorado man pleaded guilty Wednesday to the murder of a Montana teacher in an oil boom town where residents say their lives were forever altered by the crime. Montana District Judge Richard Simonton accepted Michael Keith Spell's guilty plea on a count of deliberate homicide. A charge of attempted kidnapping was dropped as part of a deal with prosecutors.   • Board looks at use of Bigger Better Barn

    A large audience was on hand for Tuesday’s Great Northern Fair Board meeting, and there was a lengthy discussion concerning the use of the Bigger Better Barn. The barn is leased by the local Barn Users Association through the winter months. Association members were concerned they would lose some of their lease this year, however board members said they were not planning on cancelling the lease.   • Railroad museum recreates historic building

    The restrooms at the Frank DeRosa Railroad Museum are being renovated to recapture a piece of Havre's history. Debbie Paulsen, who is on the museum's board, said firefighters and community members are volunteering to remodel the restrooms to imitate the front of the old Havre train depot, which is depicted in photos around the museum.     Fawn Patricia Ann Tadios, 52, of Box Elder, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison Tuesday. Tadios, the former chief executive officer of the health clinic at Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation, was ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution and two years probation. Tadios was convicted after she was discovered to have billed the tribe to pay for at least six trips to visit her husband, Raymond “Jake” Parker, in Yankton, South Dakota, in prison.     After 40 years of being in existance as the International Family Tournament it is being replaced by the All American Family Tournament. There are many changes being made but the basic concept is still the same — a handicap doubles tournament involving family memebers.
