Candidate files for JP

Ramon "Ray" Bergh, a 38-year Hill County resident, has filed for the nonpartisan position of county justice of the peace.

No one else has yet to file for the position, including incumbent Justice of the Peace Carol Chagnon.

"I've been encouraged by people to throw my name in for consideration," he said today.

Bergh, a substitute teacher at Havre Middle School and Havre High School, previously taught world history, U.S. government, geography and English at Box Elder schools.

Bergh spent 24 years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the state of Montana, where he determined if people were mentally or physically unable to perform their previous work or to enter the workforce.

While working for the state, Bergh also owned a small excavating and soil service. He has also served on the board of directors for Hill Top Recovery Center of Havre.

The married father of two children is a graduate of Plentywood High School and Montana State University-Northern, from which he holds degrees in business management and secondary education.
