RYAN BARKUS, Obituary

Ryan Neil Barkus, 20, a student at MSU-N, died Monday, March 25, 2002, in a Great Falls Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial of remains is to follow the memorial service at the Highland Cemetery. Fellowship reception is to follow burial at the church.

Ryan was born July 5, 1981, to Murray A. and Delaine P. (Jacobson) Barkus at Havre. He was educated in Havre and graduated from Havre High School in May 2000. Ryan was attending Montana State University-Northern campus and working at Barkus Home Center at the time of his death.

He enjoyed water skiing, moto-cross racing, snowboarding, hunting, wrestling, and mountain biking.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Duane Barkus, and grandfather, Pershing "Bud" Jacobson.

Survivors include his grandmother, Joyce Barkus of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; grandmother, Myrtle Jacobson of Havre; his parents, Murray and Delaine Barkus of Havre; brother, Jason (Tamara) Barkus of Havre; sister, Brooke Barkus and her fiance John Barnes both of Havre; special nieces, McKenna Barkus and Alexandra Barkus both of Havre; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, Greg (Kathy) Barkus and family of Kalispell, Laurie (Larry) Schwenke and family of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Connie (Jerry) Ridgeway and family of Billings, Janie (Steve) Hedstrom and family of Havre, Liz (Don) McIntosh and family of Havre, Bob (Teri) Jacobson and family of Havre.

Memorials in Ryan's honor may be made to MSU-Northern Scholarship Fund, c/o Tom Reynolds, Box 7751, Havre, MT 59501, or to a person's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
