EARLYN JAPPE, Obituary

KALISPELL Earlyn A. Jappe, 74, died at her Kalispell home Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002.

Memorial services are being scheduled for a later date.

Earlyn was born June 16, 1928, in Great Falls to Earl and Dolly (Graves) Crinklaw. The family moved to Great Falls when she was 11. She attended high school there and later worked at a Safeway Store there.

Earlyn married Lawrence Jappe in Great Falls on Feb. 28, 1947. They farmed and ranched south of Big Sandy for 36 years. Upon retirement they moved to Woods Bay, where they owned and operated a cherry orchard. They later moved to a home near the Flathead River. Four years after Lawrence's death, Earlyn moved to Kalispell, where she enjoyed many rounds of golf with her friends.

Earlyn was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling and fishing. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Earlyn was the school clerk at Kabo School and the Republican committee woman in that community for many years. She had a tremendous zest for life and lived each day to its fullest.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Sr.; and her son, Lawrence Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Powers of Kalispell; daughter-in-law, Regina Jappe of Big Sandy; sister-in-law, Ramona (Clarence) Lohse of Havre; brother-in-law, Leonard (Marian) Jappe of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Lawrence (Marie) Jappe III of Big Sandy, Jerald Jappe of Santa Clara, Calif., Sandra Jappe of Havre, Susan Jappe of Havre, Brandon (Rendi) Powers of Charlotte, N.C., Brian Powers of Charlotte, N.C., Nathan Powers of Lincoln, Neb.; one great-grandson; and special cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
