A Box Elder man drowned Monday while swimming with a group of friends, the Hill County Sheriff's Office said today.
Dean Blake Anderson, 42, drowned in Brown's Reservoir, about 1 miles northeast of Box Elder, early Monday afternoon, deputy Hill County coroner Les Osborne said today.
"The preliminary investigation shows an accidental drowning," Osborne said.
Emergency medical personnel from Rocky Boy responded to the drowning, said Henry Sutherland, who works at Rocky Boy Clinic. He declined to comment further about the drowning.
Anderson was taken by ambulance to Northern Montana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The hospital called the sheriff's office at 3:56 p.m. requesting a coroner, according to the sheriff's dispatch log.
Rocky Boy Police Chief Arthur Windy Boy declined to comment.
Anderson was an enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe. His family could not be reached for comment today.
