Ice Hawk high school squad still vying for playoffs, PeeWee team wins four straight

The Havre Ice Hawk high school team's quest to make the state tournament continues on after two relatively successfully weekends of hockey.

On Jan. 17, Havre skated to a 2-2 tie with the Helena Big Horns in Helena. It was a tough decision considering, Havre took a 2-1 lead into the final period, only to see Helena score with two seconds remaining in the game.

Andy Meyers scored Havre's first goal with an assist from Kaare Engebretson at the 16:45 mark of the first period. Ben Erickson added the Ice Hawks' second goal in the third period with an assist from Jordon Patterson.

Helena took the second game of the weekend, 4-2. Havre got goals from Michael Anderson and Corey Stremcha, while Chazz Hurlburt and Patterson added assists.

This past weekend, Havre dropped its opening at game at the Ice Dome to Butte, 5-4. Stremcha scored two goals, while Andy Hanson notched goal and assist. Tyson Anderson scored the Ice Hawks' final goal.

Havre rebounded on Sunday, with a 3-1 win over Butte. Patterson opened the scoring with an assist from Tyson Anderson. Josh Morse scored the game-deciding goal at the 6:05 mark in the second period. Andy Hanson added an insurance goal in the third period with an assist from Stremcha.

Goalie Mark Larson had a solid game in net for the Ice Hawks. Havre will travel to Missoula this weekend for a pair of games.

The Ice Hawk PeeWees completed a successful stretch winning four-straight games.

Havre scored a pair of decisive wins over the Missoula Bruins in Missoula on Jan. 10-11.

The Ice Hawks opened with a 6-1 win over Missoula as Shane Kemmer picked up a hat trick. Beau Briese and Kyle Miller added a goal and assist each while Dillon McLain added Havre's other goal. Willie DeVries picked up the win in goal for Havre.

A day later the Ice Hawks skated to an 8-1 win as Kemmer picked up his second hat trick in as many days while adding two assists. Adam and Beau Briese scored two goals apiece and McLain also added a goal. Zack Wavrick,. Tyler Miller and Jesse Majeres each had assists. Alex Sinclair had a solid game in goal, notching 16 saves.

The Ice Hawks returned home on Jan. 17-18 to sweep the Billings Jr. Bulls.

On Jan. 17, Havre scored a tough 5-4 win. Tyler Miller scored two goals on assists from Kemmer and Beau Briese to lead the Ice Hawks. Nick Woods scored a goal with an assist from Garrett Gilbert, while Briese and Kyle Miller each added unassisted goals. Cameron Schilling had 18 saves in goal for Havre.

A day later, the Ice Hawks trounced the Bulls behind another hat trick from Kemmer, who also added two assists. Beau Briese and Kyle Miller each added a goal and an assist. Also scoring goals were Majeres, Sinclair, Schilling and Dylan Patterson. Havre got assists from Woods, Gilbert and Amanda Hanson. DeVries was solid in net with 17 saves for the Ice Hawks.
