FRED BAYES obituary

HAYDEN, Idaho - Fred Norman Bayes, 75, of Hayden, Idaho, formerly of Havre, died at his home on Monday, March 22, 2004, of natural causes.

At his request, cremation has taken place. A small remembrance was held at Leisure Park in Hayden, Idaho, today.

Fred was born in Livingston to Fred and Joy Bayes on May 7, 1928. He was raised in Livingston and later moved to Great Falls, where he graduated from Great Falls High School. He went to work on the Great Northern Railway as a fireman. He later worked as a parts man for Palmer Brothers Auto Parts in Great Falls.

Fred married Betty Johnson of Cascade on Sept. 24, 1949. They lived in Great Falls and later moved to Havre. Fred worked as a life insurance agent for New York Life Insurance until his retirement. After Betty retired in 1999, they moved to Hayden, Idaho. They quickly made many great friends and he really enjoyed his new home and community.

Fred was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and he played an active role in the Masonic Temple Lodge and the Shriners in Havre. He recently joined the Masons in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and was looking forward to his involvement.

Fred had many interests including hunting and camping. He loved motorcycles, and he and Betty took many motorcycle trips together and with friends. Computers were his latest passion and he spent many hours working with the computer. He especially loved his family, the grandchildren and great grandchildren were all very important to him.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Joy Bayes, and brother, Hugh Aldridge.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty; son, Ron Bayes of Oakland, Ore.; daughters, Sue (Bob) Kancir of Fairfield, Conn., and Nancy (John) Rosenbaum of Havre.
