ROSWELL, N.M. - Wayne B. Simonton, 54, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at an eastern New Mexico medical center.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Jack Ferguson of the First Baptist Church in Dexter officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. A reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. near the J.C. Penney store at the Roswell Mall.
Wayne was born on May 23, 1949, in Havre to H.V. "Babe" and Edie Simonton.
Wayne had resided in Roswell for 32 years. He was S.E. New Mexico manager for McAlum Security and a volunteer for the Berrendo Fire and Rescue. He was a member of the Roswell Noon Day Optimist, the International Association of Arson Investigators, Elks, National Sheriffs' Association and the S.E. New Mexico Investigators.
Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Wayne B. Simonton II.
Survivors include his parents, Babe and Edie Simonton; sister, Debbie (William) Ellington of Roswell; one nephew; and one grandnephew.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
