Samson inks five signees for Northern football program

Montana State University-Northern football coach Mark Samson has continued to add to this year's recruiting class with the announcement of five more signings.

Joining the Lights for the 2004 season will be Adrian Largent, Cole Hanks, Colter Comstock, Matt Pulver and Ben Keller.

Largent (5-8, 180) is a product of Samson's 2003 Helen Capital squad, who earned all-conference and all-state honors at running back for the Bruins.

Hanks (6-0, 170) hails from Wolf Point. The defensive back/wide receiver earned all-state honors for the Wolves this past season.

Comstock (6-0, 180) is also a defensive back/wide receiver, who starred for Eureka this season. Comstock was both an all-conference and all-state selection.

Pulver (6-0, 220) comes to Northern from Humboldt State University. The transfer linebacker/strong safety was selected to the first team all-Northern California division team as a high school player in Colfax, Calif. Pulver was also selected to play in the prestigious Texas-California All-Star Shrine game.

Keller (6-2, 215) is also a linebacker and comes to Northern from Coronado High School in Henderson, Nev. Keller earned league defensive most valuable player honors as well as first-team all-state honors. Keller is also an excellent student, carrying a 4.2 grade point average.

"These men will help us right away in terms of athleticism and ability for next season," Samson said. "We are fortunate to have signed these athletes.

"We are still working with a few more players who could help us next fall and hope to sign them soon."

Northern is winding up its spring practices with workouts today and Friday. The final scrimmage of the spring season will be on Saturday at 10 a.m.
