Hi-Line football championship hopes dashed

It was a chilly weekend for many local sports fans over the weekend, not from the weather but from seeing playoff hopes end after strong seasons and early playoff results.

The Havre High Blue Ponies, Chinook Sugarbeeters and Big Sandy Pioneers all were one game away from a shot at state championships. All lost their semifinals games.

The same kind of result occurred on the college level, with the Montana State University-Northern Lights losing a close-fought game to conference rival Carroll College.
