Miracle baby resting, well in Missoula

 


What began as a routine pregnancy checkup went crazy, with the result of an emergency delivery of a premature baby and up-and-down times ever since.

Emily Kaye Butcher of Havre was delivered by cesarean section surgery June 7 at 24½ weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound, 5 ounces, and 12 inches long.

While her progress has been up and down — doctors were considering open-heart surgery Monday to close a heart valve, although that has been delayed to see if the valve closes itself — Emily's mother, Theresa Madrill, said Emily is doing well.
