Polls open for primary today

Voters are reminded to get out and cast their ballots today in the primary elections.

While not many local or legislative elections are contested in this region, most areas do have primaries, and a slew of candidates are vying for positions in the statewide and national elections.

Polls are open today until 8 p. m. Voters should present a valid photo identification card to be able to vote. People can find information via "My Voter Page, " at the Secretary of State's website, http://www.sos.mt.gov, and linked on other websites including the Hill County Clerk and Recorder page on the Hill County website, http://hillcounty.us/. "My Voter Page" includes information on the voter's precinct, polling place with address and a map, state House and Senate district, and a sample ballot. The site lists whether absentee ballots have been received and accepted for absentee voters.

People also can check their precincts and polling places by calling their clerk and recorder.

Hill County Clerk and Recorder Darla Dahl reminded people who received absentee ballots that, for the ballots to count in this election, they must be in their clerk and recorder's office no later than 8 p. m. today.
