Hugo H. Schram

Hugo H. Schram, 87, of Lewistown, died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 4, 2012, in Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown, following a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1925, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., the son of William and Ottilie (Brueske) Schramm.

He received his schooling in Parkers Prairie and then began working odd jobs in the area. On Dec. 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Darlene Bowman in Parkers Prairie. They lived in Parkers Prairie and he worked with his dad on his dairy farm until moving to Montana in 1959.

Hugo worked on the Vic Hanson Ranch in Hill County until the late 1960s, when he began working at Sacred Heart Hospital in Havre in the maintenance department. The hospital later became Northern Montana Hospital.

He retired from the hospital in the fall of 1988. They continued to live in Havre, and he did handyman type work, helping at the College Park Plaza and Havre Clinic. Darlene preceded him in death in 2008. He continued to live in Havre until 2010, when he moved to New Horizon's Assisted Living in Lewistown to be closer to his daughter.

Hugo enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Spending time with his grandchildren was what he truly loved.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Havre.

He is survived by one son, Dale (Norma) Schramm of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Betty Schramm (Mike Peck) of Hobson, Mont. ,; one brother, William Schramm of Miltona, Minn .; three sisters, Adeline Quitmeyer and Irene Brunson, both of Parkers Prairie, Minn., and Verla Bowman of Forbes Minn .; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2008; his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside Services for Hugo H. Schram will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m., in Hillside Cemetery in Conrad, Mont. Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
