The All Hi-Line girls basketball team is always packed with powerful and talented basketball players. And this year's edition has plenty of that.
This year's
Chanel Standing Rock, Havre Highlist also includes the most repeat performers to ever make the list, as well as the only three-time player, a feat accomplished by a pair of area players this year. It also includes the most sophomores to ever be voted onto the team in its six-year existence.
The 2012 All Hi-Line Girls Team includes five sophomores, as well as six players who have made the list before. It's also loaded with eight players from District 9C and nine total Class C standouts.
Aricka Wolf Chief, Box Elder
Wolf Chief is the first girl to make the All Hi-Line Team three straight years. A senior, Wolf Chief led Box Elder to the District 9C championship and a trip to the Northern C championship game back in February in Great Falls. Over her career, Wolf Chief has averaged 18 points per game as a four-year starter at Box Elder and she is a three-time Class C All-State performer. She led the 9C in scoring the past two years and played in three 9C championship games, as well as two Northern C Divisional tournaments. She has gone down as one of the most prolific scorers in Box Elder's proud girls basketball history.
Shelby Lipp, North Star
Like Wolf Chief, Lipp is also a three-time All Hi-Line performer. Lipp has led North Star in scoring and rebounding in each of the last three seasons, and she too is a three-time Class C All-State standout. Over the last two seasons, Lipp averaged an astounding double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds per game. She also helped the Knights compete as one of the top teams in the 9C during her brilliant four-year career.
Peyton Filius, Havre High
Filius is the third of six repeat performers on the All Hi-Line Team, also making it as a freshman. In 2011-12, she helped the Blue Ponies to a Central A championship and a trip to the Class A state tournament. She averaged 12 points per game on her way to Central A First-Team All-Conference honors.
Taryn Norby, Chinook
Though her senior season can to a difficult end, injuring a knee at the District 9C tournament, Norby had a brilliant career at Chinook. She was a four-year starter, a three-time Class C All-State standout and she led the Beeters in scoring in each of the last three seasons. Norby also helped Chinook to the 2011 9C title and a great run at the Northern C, as well as second-place finish at the 9C this season. Norby, a two-time All Hi-Line standout is headed to MSU-Northern to play basketball for the Skylights.
Jenni Ghekiere, C/J-I
Ghekiere is yet another repeat to the All Hi-Line Team. A senior, Ghekiere led the Hawks in scoring and rebounding this past season, as well as another District 10C championship. She's a two-time All Northern C performer and is also a standout on the volleyball court for the Hawks.
Makhayla Farmer, Chinook
Farmer is one of the most dominant post players in Class C basketball. She's on the All Hi-Line Team for the second straight year, making it as a freshman in 2011. Farmer averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game this season on her way to Northern C All-Conference honors.
Brandy Lambourne, Havre High
Lambourne is part of a big sophomore class on this year's All Hi-Line Team. She averaged in double figures as Havre's point guard this season, and she really caught fire by averaging nearly 16 points per game in January and February as Havre claimed the Central A title. She also earned Central A First-Team All-Conference honors.
Mateila Cline, Big Sandy
Cline came on strong in her senior season, averaging nearly 21 points per game for the Pioneers. She had several huge outings this season on her way to Northern C All-Conference honors, including a pair of 30-plus point outings. She was also one of the top 3-point shooters in the 9C.
Brandi Buffalo, Box Elder
On a much smaller Box Elder team, Buffalo was a force in the paint. She scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in helping Box Elder to a perfect 18-0 regular season, as well as the 9C championship back in February. Buffalo earned all Northern C honors and is now a two-time All 9C standout.
Molly Herron, Big Sandy
Another of the super sophomores, Herron was stellar playing both guard and post for Bog Sandy in 2011-12. She averaged in double figures for the season, and scored from all over the floor. With her size, speed and length, Herron is already considered one of the top returning players on the Hi-Line for next season.
Lisa Carlon, North Star
Carlon had a big junior campaign for the Knights. She averaged 12 points per game, but it was her performance at the 9C tournament in February that really grabbed people's attention. In three games in Havre, Carlon averaged 24 points and seven rebounds as the Knights made a great run. She earned all 9C honors this season.
Chanel Standing Rock, Havre
Standing Rock is another sophomore star. She busted out this season for a young and exciting Blue Pony squad. She earned Central A All-Conference honors and was one of the deadliest 3-point shooters in Class A this season. She also joins her brother, Anfernee as a brother-sister tandem to have made the All Hi-Line Team.
