Hi-Line Darts and Laurels

Laurel — Nalivka's Pizza Kitchen is holding its annual Slice of Hope celebration tonight. Until 10 p.m., 10 percent of proceeds will go toward the Karen Muller Foundation, which helps fight breast cancer. Delicious desserts will be sold, and there will be an auction for four big desserts. Stop in, enjoy some pizza and dessert and help out a good cause.

Laurel — Clients going to get lunch at Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen will find the place a bit cheerier. Boys Scouts, headed by Tyler Palmer, an Eagle Scout candidate, did some great work in painting and sprucing up the facility that is becoming the only place many area residents can get a nutritious meal.

Dart — A shooting took place on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation last week. Details of the incident are still sketchy. One person was injured. One person was taken into custody. Apparently, one building on the reservation was taped off by authorities. Because the crime took place on the reservation, the FBI is in charge of the probe. The bureau is bringing new meaning to the phase "tight-lipped." The incident, of course, is the hot topic on the reservation and surrounding communities, but FBI officials apparently feel it is none of the public's business. No details have been released. It's time the public knew what is alleged to have happened.

Laurel — The annual ceremony honoring the Battle of the Bear Paws was held last weekend at the battlefield, 15 miles south of Chinook. The re-enactment marks the battle where Chief Joseph surrendered to U.S. troops, marking the end of the long war between the Army and the Nez Perce Indians. It was a sad moment in American history, but it is vital to mark the moment and remember this important time in our past.
