William 'Bill' Shore
William "Bill" Shore, 95, of Circle, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the McCone County Health Center in Circle. Visitation will be held from until 5 p. m., on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Circle.
Graveside Services with military honors will be held at 11 a. m., on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Riverview Cemetery in Circle, with Pastor Mike Bartelson officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Bill was born on April 6, 1917, in Great Falls, Mont., a son of William and Mimi (Westwick) Shore. As a young child his family moved to Big Sandy, Mont., where he was raised and educated. On Sept. 2, 1939, he was united in marriage with Maxine Wright in Havre, Mont. Following his marriage, Bill was drafted into the United States Army and served during World War II. He was stationed in Fort Sill, Okla. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, Bill returned to Montana with his family in Box Elder, Mont., where he worked as a coal miner. After leaving the coal mines, Bill leased a farm and farmed until 1950 when they moved to Fort Assinniboine, Mont., where Bill worked as a foreman for an experimental agriculture research station for five years before moving his family to Havre, where he worked construction, building houses for five years. Bill and Maxine built Shore's Floral, Greenhouse and Garden Center, which they owned and operated until their retirement in 1972. After their retirement, Bill and Maxine moved to Augusta, Mont., where Bill was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. In 2000, they moved to Simms, Mont., before moving to Circle in 2007, where they have resided since.
Bill enjoyed spending his retirement days hunting, fishing and gardening. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was time he loved and cherished. He was a member of the American Legion Club and the Eagles Club.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mimi Shore; one daughter, Wilma "Corky" Curtiss; one son, Robert Shore; one granddaughter, Carly; two brothers, Fred and Orville; three sisters, Betty, Mary Ann and Alma; and one son-in-law, Les Dolezal.
Survivors include his loving wife, Maxine Shore of Circle; daughter, Charlotte Dolezal of Enumclaw, Wash. ; son, Larry (Diane) Shore of Circle; sister, Emily Telfair of Tallahassee, Fla. ; 15 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
