The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team was desperate to stop its three-game losing skid, by any means necessary. On Friday night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse, the No. 22 Lights did just that, earning a 77-67 Frontier Conference win over the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears.

The Lights hadn't won since Jan. 28 in Havre, but Northern jumped out to a 24-4 lead as Devin Jackson scored 12 points in the first nine minutes of the game. Rocky rebounded with a 13-3 run of its own and was within striking distance at 36-25 at intermission. The Bears continued to fight in the seocnd half. Northern would lead by as many as 15 points, but Rocky got as close as five points with a little over six minutes to play. However, LaVon Myers hit a back-braking three and the Lights made eight straight free throws in the final minute to earn a much-needed win.

Jackson scored a game-high 21 points, while Myers and Joe Simpson each added 17. Sean Kelly chipped in with eightg points as the Lights improved to 7-4 in the Frontier and 21-6 overall.

Northern is back at home Saturday for a Senior Night game against the Carroll College Fighting Saints, who beat UGF Friday night in Great Falls. Tip off for Saturday's game is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse.
