GLASGOW (AP) — A BNSF Railway official says a freight train headed from Chicago to Portland, Ore., has derailed in a remote part of northeast Montana.
Spokesman Gus Melonas says about a dozen cars derailed Tuesday afternoon about 20 miles east of Glasgow. He says the train had four locomotives and 57 loads of containers carrying general merchandise ranging from batteries to paper products to canoes.
Melonas says several containers spilled their contents but there was no environmental threat, and no injuries were reported.
