High school homecoming, it's just about one of the greatest traditions in America.
And Havre High always honors the homecoming tradition as well as anywhere.
This week marks homecoming week at HHS and that means plenty of sports will be on the ticket.
It all starts Friday night with the annual homecoming football game, which will also be the Central A Conference opener for the Blue Ponies and the visiting Belgrade Panthers. The game should be a good one as Havre comes in off an impressive 40-26 win over Sidney last weekend, while the Panthers have been pretty dominant in the nonconference season.
Not to mention, HHS and Belgrade are big rivals on the football field, and that's going to make for a very special homecoming game in a place that's very special to host a homecoming game, Blue Pony Stadium.
And homecoming doesn't end with Friday night's football game.
On Saturday, fans will get to see two HHS sports teams they haven't seen yet this season.
In the morning, the Havre High cross country teams will host the annual Havre Invitational on their race course at MSU-Northern. Saturday's varsity and junior varsity races will mark the only time the Ponies get to compete in front of their own fans during the regular season. HHS is the host of the Central A Divisional later this fall.
Homecoming festivities then wrap up with the home debut of the Havre High volleyball team on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Ponies come home on a roll to take on Class B power Choteau at the HHS gymnasium.
Havre High has been playing really well the last two weeks, and Saturday is the first chance for fans to get a look at the HHS volleyball team.
Once again, homecoming week at Havre High is a special time, and the 2012 HHS Homecoming is one that you don't want to miss.
