Area preps earn District 9C, Class C All-State honors

It was an exciting season of basketball on the Hi-Line and the awards for many of the top players in Hi-Line high school basketball are just coming in.

The District 9C released its all-conference teams recently, as did the Northern C, with its Class C All-State selections.

On the boys side, North Star senior Jordy Donoven, Big Sandy junior Trevor Lacknerand Pioneer teammate, senior Justin Stevens all earned Class C All-State honors for their play in 2011-12. Donoven was a repeat all-state performer from a year ago.

Also earning 9C honors were Big Sandy's Jessey Bailey and Kaden Beck, Chinook's Brandon Riphenburg, Grant Tilleman and Scott Schmitt, Hays-Lodge Pole's Trent Kirkaldie and Nolan Werk, Box Elder's Jesse Ramos and North Star's Karston Donoven.

A bevy of area girls also earned Class C All-State honors for 2011-12. Leading the way was Box Elder senior Aricka Wolf Chief, who was all state for a third time. Chinook senior Taryn Norby was also voted all state for the second straight year, while North Star senior Shelby Lipp also earned all-state honors for a second straight season. Big Sandy junior Mateila Cline was named all state, as was Chester/J-I senior Jenni Ghekiere.

Also earning District 9C honors was Big Sandy's Molly Herron, Chinook's Makhayla Farmer and Kayla Hanson, Box Elder's Crystal Stamper and Brandi Buffalo, Hays-Lodge Pole's Kristie Runs Above and Shakayla Whitecow and North Star's Lisa Carlon.
