Kirkegard along with other GT students — HHS sophomore Cassie Rennick, senior Lauren Scofield and freshman Joslin LaSalle — gave a chemistry demonstration to Lincoln-McKinley third-graders to get them excited about their upcoming tests, the MontCas, that they will be taking March 6 through March 8 and March 13 through March 15. GT students, and their facilitator Mike Leinwand, told the students about a girl named Annalisa Reece who needed magical devices to get back home. Third-graders were given a couple of chemicals to mix with water to create different colors. The different colors prompted the high school students to perform different demonstrations to create magical devices to help Annalisa get back home. For instance, when the third-graders created the color yellow, Annalisa needed the "Elephant Toothpaste" to help her cross a canyon.
