Hi-Line Girls Roundup: North Star and Chinook win big games

Girls basketball on the Hi-Line reached the first critical point in the season, as teams looked to go into the holiday break with some much-needed momentum. And considering how busy last week was, area teams had plenty of chances to improve.

Last Monday saw the Chester/J-I Hawks continue to soar with a 52-26 win in Valier. Kate Graff and Brittany Whitley each scored 11 points in the win over the Panthers.

Tuesday night in Chinook, the Sugarbeeters dominated visiting Dodson, 72-33 with Makhayla Farmer scoring 22 points and Tavin Schneider adding 10.

Things didn't go as well on Tuesday for Rocky Boy or Turner however. The Morning Stars lost a narrow, 48-43 decision at Malta. Rocky Boy got 14 points from Brandi Buffalo and 10 by Jai-Lynne Day Child in the loss. Turner meanwhile, was soundly beaten by Saco, 71-21.

The tough times continued for the Tornadoes on Thursday night as they were beaten by Hinsdale 53-16, with Ella Billmayer scoring nine points in the loss.

Thursday night also saw Big Sandy lose a close one to 7C power Roy-Winifred, 51-43. The Pioneers got 10 points each from Kaylie Gilman and Molly Herron in the close loss.
