Beeters thriving on the tennis courts this spring

The high school tennis season is hitting the stretch run, and area girls teams are starting to hit their stride.

Last Thursday, Chinook and Chester/J-I squared off in a varsity girls dual, won 4-2 by the Sugarbeeters. In singles, the two rivals split with Chinook's Katie Diemert beating Saide Brown 8-2, C/J-I's Suzanne Stewart taking down Madisen McIntosh 8-4, the Hawks' Lauren Stewart beating Ashton Nideregger 8-1 and Chinook's Sabra Moon winning over Jocelyn Woods 8-5. In doubles, the Beeters won twice. Haley Swank and Kiana Burkhartsmeyer beat Megan Han and Tamara Roos 8-2 and Alana Smith and Mariah Swank beat Emma Earl and Lyndee Golden 8-0.

Last Saturday was another busy day for the Beeters, who were in Great Falls for the Fort Benton/Fairfield Duals. The Beeters played six times over the course of the day, mostly against B-C rivals.

Chinook lost to Fairfield 4-2 with wins by Diemert in singles and Smith and Swank in doubles. Chinook tied Class A Anaconda 3-3 with Diemert winning in singles and Haley Swank and Burkhartsmeyer and Smith and Haley Swank winning in doubles. Chinook thumped Choteau 5-1 with Deimert, Alana Gunderson and Katelyn Neibauer winning and singles and the Beeters dominating in doubles.

In Chinook's final three duals, the Beeters tied Whitehall, Conrad and Boulder 3-3. Against Whitehall, Diemert won in singles and the doubles teams swept, and the same went for the dual against Conrad. Against Boulder, Chinook lost both doubles matches, while Diemert, Moon and Neibauer won in singles.

This weekend, the Beeters will be using the Bill Vaughey Memorial Tennis Courts in Havre for their annual Chinook Invite. The tournament will run Friday and Saturday in Havre.
