Lights win Miles City rodeo

red the team championship at the annual Miles City Stampede college rodeo. The Lights scored 450 points to finish ahead of Northwest College and third place Montana State University, and they got big individual performances as well.

Robert Wagner captured the Saddle Bronc title in Miles City with 139 points on two rides. Charlie Mack also came away with an event championship in the Bareback riding with 133 points on two rides. Phillip Sutherland also won 1st place in the first round in the Steer wrestling, ended up 6th in the short round, and ended up 2nd in the Steer Wrestling average. Adam Mummau also placed 6th in Saddle Bronc in the long round, and ended up 6th in the Saddle Bronc riding average.

The men's team win, moves them up to 4th place in the Big Sky Regional standings. Robert Wagner leads the Big Sky region Saddle bronc standings, Charlie Mack is 2nd in the Bareback standings, and 4th in the Bull Riding, Phillip Sutherland is 4th in the Steer Wrestling standings, and 12th in the Saddle Bronc Standings, and Adam Mummau is 14th in the Saddle Bronc standings.

"This is a big accomplishment to see Northern win a team championship," new Northern head coach Doug Kallenberger said. "I'm very proud of my team and their work ethic, putting their nose to the grindstone, practicing, working as a team. We look to continue working hard and hope to continue our success, I know we have the talent."

The Lights and Skylights wrap up the fall Big Sky season at this weekend's UM-Western Rodeo in Dillon.
