Anthony Paul Kaluza
Anthony Paul Kaluza, 80, of Havre, Mont., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in Billings, Mont. His rosary will be Friday Jan. 4, 2013, at 5 p. m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. His funeral Mass will be 1 p. m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, with his burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude Parish Center immediately after the graveside service. Memorials in Tony's honor may be made to a charity of one's choice
Tony was born to Jacob Peter and Gianna Rose (Peressini) Kaluza in Havre on Jan. 25, 1932. Tony attended St. Jude Elementary School and graduated from Havre High School in 1950. He then attended Northern Montana College. He worked as a brakeman and conductor for more than 40 years for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern railroads.
Tony was an active member of the Montana National Guard for 13 years, a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and active in the American Legion. He was an enthusiast of the Northern Lights and Skylights teams.
He is survived by his four children, Marti Christie of Billings, Mont., Laurie Bills of Ferndale, Wash., Vince Kaluza, of Havre, and Steve Kaluza of Colstrip, Mont. Also left to mourn his passing are brothers, Archie (Kathleen) and Phil Kaluza; as well as sisters, Mary Jane (Chuck) Funk and Eleanor (Ron) Swenson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He had many nephews and nieces whom he treasured.
He was the person in our family that we could always count on. We will miss him very much for his advice, caring and humor.
