Breaking Sports: Skylights take down Tech; Lights win in Butte

To say the Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team is red-hot right now would be an understatement. The Skylights captured their fourth straight Frontier Conference win by beating Montana Tech 56-47 Friday night in Butte. Northern won its third straight league road game while holding Tech under 50 points for the second time this season.

Nikki Tresch led Northern with 14 points, while Kylee Denham scored 11 and Laci Keller added 10. MSU-N improved to 7-4 in league play and 15-9 overall heading into Saturday's trip to nationally-ranked Carroll College.

The trip to Butte was equally impressive for the MSU-Northern Lights, who fought their way to a 59-48 win over the Orediggers Friday night. Northern played an outstanding first half, built up a nine-point lead, and though the Diggers' once closed to within three, MSU-N finished strong.

Sophomore Corbin Pearson continued his fine play, leading the 18th-ranked Lights with 12 points. Devin Jackson scored 11 and Allan Brown added a season-high 10. Northern improved to 8-3 in the Frontier Conference and won its 20th game overall this season. The Lights also made it a season sweep of the Orediggers, and will now face Carroll College Saturday night in Helena.
