Several Havre Blue Ponies competed in the 5th Annual Tournament of Champions wrestling event Saturday in Great Falls. And for one HHS grappler, he proved he is the best in the state.
The T.O.C. annually matches up the best four wrestlers from Class AA, A, and B-C in each weight class, with the intent to gather all the state champions from last week's All-Class State Wrestling Tournament in Billings.
In the 105-pound bracket, Havre's Grayson Brenna defeated Bozeman's Kale Evenson with a quick first-period pin in the championship match. Brenna had a bye to the championship match.
Havre's Keegan Kennelly, Grant Pattison and Tyler Adams also reached the finals. Kennelly defeated Laurel's Clayton Carter in the semifinals, but was pinned by Butte Central's Clay Stillwagon in the championship match. Stillwagon also beat Kennelly for the Class A 98-pound title last week. Pattison beat AA state champ Jake Leinwand of Billings West in the 189-pound semifinals, but lost to Bozeman's Keavon Buckley in the final. Adams beat Missoula Sentinel's Darby Meier in the semifinals, but lost to Billings West's Nick Jackson, 6-5 in the 215-pound finale.
