Havre High golfers star at East Glacier

It’s a busy time for the Havre High golf teams. And the Blue Ponies got plenty of action over the weekend.

Last Friday, HHS attended the Browning Invitational, held at East Glacier Lodge Golf Course. And because the Pony varsity teams were there for the second straight week, scores improved dramatically. But Friday’s meet was also a chance for the Havre junior varsity team to play 18 holes, and overall, all of the Pony golfers played well.

On the boys side, the Havre varsity squad easily took first-place honors, with a team total of 335. Two Havre JV squads finished second and third, while Polson JV was fourth, another Havre JV team was fifth. Browning also had players in the field, but not enough for a team score.

Individually, the Ponies took the top five spots in the tourney. Junior Jeff Miller was first with an 82, while Dustin Haas was second at 83, Jerod Boles third at 85 and Kane Gabrielsen fourth at 85, as well. Also, for the second time this season, junior varsity golfer Trey Hanson placed in a meet. Hanson shot 86 Friday, leaving him in fifth place, and with a better score than any golfer from Polson or Browning. Pony senior Wyatt Lindbloom also shot 89, while Aden Passon and Brad Bender both posted 91, and Cody Rennick shot 96.

In the girls tourney, Havre competed against Browning basically head-to-head with the Ponies posting a team score of 471. Browning was first with a 412.

Individually, HHS was again led by junior Randi Gabrielsen, who shot 100 and placed third overall. Newcomer Grace Litzinger also fired a personal best 117, while MacKenzie Tilleman finished with a 124. Rounding out the scoring for the Ponies was Jordan Keith at 130 and Regan Lammers at 134.

Havre now begins a very busy stretch of golf. The Ponies travel to the Lewistown Invitational this Friday, then return home to host the Havre Invite on Saturday at Beaver Creek Golf Course.
