Restraining order on St. Marks lifted

Ken Blatt St. Marks, the elected chair of the Chippewa Cree Business Committee, said the temporary restraining order that kept him 500 feet away from the tribal offices was lifted after he had a tribal court hearing Tuesday.

“They threw out the (temporary restraining order),” St. Marks said. “They said there was no evidence.”

St. Marks said that he thinks that though he is allowed to go back to the tribal offices, board members will still have him arrested if he does so.

As of deadline, the judge had not released documents for the hearing. Also as of deadline, interim chair of the business committee Richard “Ricky” Morsette had not returned calls or messages for comment from Tuesday and today by deadline.

The 11 a.m. hearing at the Chippewa Cree Tribal Courts was closed to the public.

St. Marks was twice elected business committee chair, was removed from office by a business committee vote. Board members say he has harassed employees and stolen tribal money. St. Marks said the accusations have come because he is working with federal officials in uncovering corruption on the reservation.

The restraining order was filed against St. Marks Dec. 2, after he refused to respond to attorneys who tried to speak to him about allegations made against him.

This tribe does not respect the tribal voice, Kenny is our dually elected chairmen. This corrupt council past and present is trying desperately to cover up there corruption that has been going on for years. Little do they realize round two will begin in 2015.
