Library News and Views

Seasons greetings. We have been having some strange weather lately, and it hasn’t really felt like Christmas. I hope we can change that. The Havre-Hill County Library will be hosting a hay ride.

Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m. Jack Solomon will bring his team of horses to the library, and we will hop aboard the wagon to Christmas Carol through town.

Not everyone will be able to fit on the wagon all at once so we will be taking turns. There will be a special guest visiting the library while you are waiting for your turn … Santa. Yeah, Santa. Come visit with the jolly old elf yourself and share some of your Christmas wishes. There will also be some of Santa’s favorite cookies to munch on and warm apple cider.

If you still have impatient ones, check out the library, we have a great children’s section filled with wonderful books, blocks, and puzzles. Don’t forget to look for Lolly the elf on the shelf while you wait. If you are worried about the safety of the hay ride, you shouldn’t be. Jack and his team of horses have been doing this for a while and we will also have help from the Border Patrol.

The U.S. Border Patrol will assist in making sure everyone gets on and off safely, assist with keeping children from getting too close to the horses, and will be on the hay ride for safety.

They are a great group of individuals who help with making sure Havre is a safe place to live, obviously in more ways than one — maybe we can get them to wear Santa hats as part of their uniform, they do make green Santa hats. Before you ride you will be required to sign a liability waiver, so please keep that in mind when you show up.

I hope that we can make your holiday a little brighter and raise your Christmas spirit.

Please join us in some holiday fun this Saturday. If you have any further questions, call us at 265-2123. You can check us out on Facebook for other library activities. Happy holidays.
