Local 4-H members, leaders meet 'Across Generations, Across Montana' with legislators

Special to the Daily News

Six members and leaders of the Hill County 4-H program participated in the 15th Biennial 4-H legislative breakfast in Helena Jan. 20.

Those attending were Jasmine Powell, Skylar Powell and Angelina Toth of the Havre Honey Badgers 4-H Club, along with county leaders Amanda Powell and Shelma Seidel and Extension Agent Lea Ann Larson.

The breakfast is sponsored by Montanans for 4-H, an all-volunteer group of concerned citizens. The 4-H legislative breakfast is one of the best-attended in Helena. This year, a majority of legislators attended the breakfast to learn first-hand about the 4-H program in Montana. Over 300 people were in attendance at the breakfast, including 58 legislators.

The legislators who attended the breakfast from the region were Kris Hanson and Stephanie Hess.

Organized around the theme of "Across Generations, Across Montana," this year's breakfast showcased presentations by 4-H families who have been impacted by 4-H and the MSU Extension Service across many generations here in Montana. This year's program re-emphasized that 4-H is one of the state's premier educational programs that is open to all youth - rural and urban. 4-H members and adults highlighted ways that as a state we are better off because of 4-H.

During the breakfast, 4-H youth and adult volunteers informed legislators about the importance the program plays in their lives and what they have learned as a result of their participation in the 4-H program.
