9C Update: Longhorns, Hawks race into semifinals

Updated at 9:30 p.m. The first round of the District 9C girls tournament was completed Wednesday night at the Havre High gymnasium as Fort-Benton-Geraldine beat Turner 61-36 and Chester/J-I beat Hays-Lodge Pole 63-18 Wednesday. The Longhorns and Hawks will meet in a semifinal Thursday night.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Box Elder Bears advanced on the opening afternoon of the 9C girls tournament Wednesday in Havre.

Chinook beat Big Sandy 68-17 while Box Elder took care of North Star 58-30. The Bears and Beeters will meet in Thursday night's semifinal.
