Pizza Hut to hold benefit for crash victims

Twenty percent of the proceeds at Pizza Hut Thursday will go to a benefit fund for Jackie Roberts, the Havre woman who lost her newborn son and her significant other in less than a month.

People who buy food for eat-in, take-out or delivery need to tell the server they want the money to go to the fund, said Destany Field, who has launched a campaign to raise money for Jackie.

Jackie’s partner, Craig Lawrence, was killed when the car he was driving veered off Wild Horse Road and overturned. Jackie and her twin 1-year-olds, who were passengers in the car, were injured and have since been released from Northern Montana Hospital.

They were driving as a way of working off their grief over the death of their baby, Daymean Duwayane Lawrence, who died Aug. 26.

Jackie sustained serious injuries and is unable to work at her job at Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods.

The Pizza Hut benefit is one in a series of events planned to raise money on Jackie’s behalf.

• A gofundme.com account has been set up in her name.

• People can donate to the Jackie Roberts Benefit at Independence Bank, 435 3rd St. Havre MT 59501.

• People can contact Destany Field at 265-1241.

• Collection jars will be set up throughout town.

• A benefit will be held at the Havre Eagles Club, 3-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25.
