Letter to the Editor: Booster club looking for Dr. Jim Elliot award nominations

Editor:

The Blue Pony Booster Club is in need of nominations for the Dr. Jim Elliott Memorial Award. Dr. Elliott’s family gave the first award in 2001 and purchased a plaque that hangs in a trophy case at the Havre High School’s west foyer with the name of each recipient engraved on it.

The Booster Club has been given the responsibility from the Elliott family of choosing someone to receive this award. The honor of receiving this award is based on volunteerism, along with personal and/or professional sacrifices made for the betterment of the Blue Pony activities as Dr. Elliott demonstrated year after year.

This award is intended to be for more than just a fan but rather for an individual who truly makes an impact on our high school activities and athletics. The award is not available for any current Havre Public School employees or for current Havre Public School Foundation or Blue Pony Booster Club board members.

The first honoree of this award was the late Wells Lamey.

Other individuals who have received this award are Ron Holden, Pat Newell, Chuck Williams, Dave and Pam Wilson, Kathie Newell, Dr. Gerald Olson, Mary Stevens, Noel Henderson and the most recent honoree, Randy Riggin.

So please put on your thinking cap and send us who you would like to nominate and an explanation of why you would like to have them honored with this award. Send nominations to Blue Pony Booster Club, PO Box 704, Havre, MT 59501 by Jan. 10. Should you like additional information on this award, please contact Stacy Rismon at 252-4519.
