Havre Daily All Hi-Line Boys Team

2016

It was a banner season in boys basketball on the Hi-Line. The Box Elder Bears won a Class C state championship. The Havre Blue Ponies contended for the A title, and won the Eastern A championship. The Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks were outstanding, as were the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds.

And this list goes on and on.

The same can be said for the individual talent along the Hi-Line. The players were outstanding and so were the performances, and that's why the 2016 All Hi-Line Boys Team is so star studded.

For the second time ever, the All Hi-Line Team features two four-time selections. It also features five repeat performers, and a stellar mix of experiences and youth. The 2016 squad is composed of eight seniors, but two juniors and a freshman top the list. The team is also composed of all three classifications from the area, A, B and C, which makes this All Hi-Line Team especially balanced.

Dane Warp, Havre

Warp is the third player in the nine-year history of the All Hi-Line Team to be a four-time selection. The Carroll College commit has been spectacular for four years, earning Class A All-State nods three times, and First-Team All Central A four times. He also broke the 2,000-point and 1,000-rebound plateau for his career, the only Blue Pony to ever do so.

But, Warp certainly saved his best for last. He averaged 26 points per game this past season, but in the postseason, ne ramped his scoring up to 30 points per night in helping HHS to a third-straight state tournament berth. And, finishing a brilliant career, Warp becomes the highest-scoring member to ever be named to the All Hi-Line Team.

Brandon The Boy, Box Elder

The Boy is the fourth player to ever be named to four All Hi-Line Teams. And while he's all about the team, helping Box Elder to four District 9C titles, two Northern C and two Class C state championships in his career, The Boy certainly stood out.

The Boy finished his career as a four-time All 9C selection, and a three-time Northern Class C All-State honoree. This past season, The Boy averaged close to 25 points per game in his nine postseason contests, and throughout his four years, he will go down as one of the greatest Box Elder players in history.

Justin May, CJI

May is now a three-time All Hi-Line selection. For the third season in a row, May also earned Northern Class C All-State honors, and, in each of his last three seasons, he finished in the Top 15 in all of Montana in scoring. This past season, May averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game in helping the Hawks come within one game of reaching the Class C state tourney. He's also headed to Montana Tech to play football next fall.

Jerrod Four Colors, Box Elder

Four Colors makes his second straight appearance on the All Hi-Line Team. As a dominant post player, but one who can shoot from the outside, Four Colors averaged over 15 points and six rebounds per game in helping the Bears to their second state championship in three seasons. Four Colors is also a three-time All 9C and All-State standout.

Nate Rismon, Havre

Rismon also gets his second straight nod to the All Hi-Line Team. The Blue Pony senior played all four years, including the last three as a starter. This past season, Rismon, who's on his way to UM-Western to play football, averaged eight points and six rebounds per game, but he was best known as one of Class A's top defenders. Rismon also earned Central A All-Conference honors three times in his outstanding HHS career.

Jerod Boles, Havre

Boles, another three-sport standout at Havre High, is making his first appearance on the All Hi-Line Team. Boles has been HHS's point guard for the last three seasons, and, thanks to All-Conference honors this year, Boles will earn All Central A in three sports, after he does this spring in tennis. Boles was spectacular down the stretch for the Ponies, averaging 15 points per game in Havre's seven tournament games, including scoring a career-high 26 points in a state tourney win over Laurel.

Troy Harmon, CJI

Harmon broke out as a junior, but in his final season with the Hawks, he was even better. Harmon, who earned Class C All-State honors this season, became one of the best 3-point shooters on the Hi-Line this winter, as he shot nearly 45 percent from beyond the arc. Harmon was also a big piece in helping the Hawks reach the Northern C tourney, and over the course of the season, he averaged almost 18 points per game, and scored 30 or more four different times.

Frank Runs Above, HLP

Runs Above is another first-time selection, and as a junior, he's going to make sure the Thunderbirds will be tough again next season. Averaging 14 points per game in the regular season, Runs Above turned up the heat by averaging 22 points per night for seven postseason games, while helping the T-Birds reach the Northern C for the second straight year. He also earned Class C All-State honors for the first time.

Pernell Morsette, Box Elder

Morsette is the third Box Elder Bear to make the list, and in doing so, it marks the third straight year in which the Bears have had at least three players make the team. A junior, Morsette scored more than 14 points per game, and averaged close to 20 during the postseason on his way to not only helping Box Elder win a state championship, but also earning All-State honors for himself in the process.

Kendall Windy Boy, Rocky Boy

Only a handful of freshmen have ever made the All Hi-Line Team, and Windy Boy joins that elite company. Standing near 6-7, Windy Boy is nowhere near done growing, and he's already one of the most dominant big men on the Hi-Line. Windy Boy averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per game this season for the Stars, and if not for playing in a loaded District 1B, he would have likely been named All-Conference in his first high school season.

Ian McIntosh, Chinook

An All Hi-Line Team wouldn't be complete without a Chinook Sugarbeeter, and senior Ian McIntosh makes the list for the first time. A three-year starter for the Beeters, McIntosh has earned 9C First-Team honors the last two. Best known for quarterbacking the Beeters to the 2015 Class C state football championship, McIntosh is a standout on the hardwood as well. He's also the fifth player on the list to earn a college scholarship as he's head to South Dakota to play NAIA football next fall.

Brandon Richter, CJI

The third member of the Hawks to make the list, Richter finished the season also averaging in double figures, while leading CJI in assists. Richter, a two-time All-Conference performer, and three-year starter for CJI, was also the Hawks' quarterback during their outstanding football season last fall.

Editor's Note: The All Hi-Line Boys Team is voted on by available head coaches in the area, as well as by the Havre Daily News sports staff. The list does not reflect the opinion of any single individual. The 2016 All Hi-Line Girls Team will publish next Monday.
