Area volleyball players earn 6C East honors

The 2016 volleyball season is in the books, but there’s still plenty of awards to be handed out.

The District 6C East recently announced its 2016 All-Conference Team, and as expected, it was dominated by the Chinook Sugarbeeters.

The Beeters, who won their fourth consecutive district championship and haven’t lost a conference match in over two years, had four players named All-Conference. On the First Team was senior Kelsey Mathon and junior Sierra Swank, while senior Taylor Neibauer and junior Kourtney Hanson were named to the Second Team.

North Star had three players selected, with senior Sheridan Spicher and sophomore Paij Peterson making the First Team and junior Lily Pedersen being named Second Team. The Beeters and Knights were the 6C East representatives at the Northern C Divisional tournament earlier this month.

Rounding out the 6C East First Team was Chester-Joplin-Inverness junior Jereca Tempel and Big Sandy sophomore Jaylyn Cline. The Second Team also included Box Elder’s Lilly Gopher, CJI’s Kimberli Ghekiere and Big Sandy’s Jenna Leader.
