Man sentenced for punching his mother

An Anaconda man received three years probation Monday in District Court in Havre for punching his mother while visiting her in Hill County.

Jeffrey Shuck, born in 1981, received a three-year deferred imposition of sentence for the offense of felony partner or family member assault, third or subsequent offense. The sentence was part of a plea deal and if Shuck abides by its conditions, he can have the offense struck off his record.

The incident took place Dec. 10, 2015. The Hill County Sheriff’s Office received a call  from an Adult Protective Services worker who wanted deputies to check on a woman who had been treated in the Liberty County Medical Center emergency room. The woman incurred blunt force trauma after being hit in the head.

Later that day, the Sheriff’s Office received another call, this time from the same woman’s daughter, asking deputies to check on her mother.

Deputies arrived at the residence and found Shuck’s mother and two other people.

While talking to his mother, deputies learned that Shuck and his girlfriend had been staying with them since Thanksgiving. Deputies were told Shuck and his girlfriend were arguing about their relationship that morning and Shuck hit his girlfriend in the mouth, which caused “injury to her lip,” charging document say.

Shuck’s mother told officers she was standing by the water cooler in the kitchen.

“She said something to Shuck and he came over and punched her in the left side of the face. Shuck hit her so hard she fell to the floor,” charging documents say.

The impact prompted Shuck’s mother to go to Liberty County Medical Center. Her discharge papers say she incurred blunt force trauma and that her face was swollen with redness in the lower white part of her eye.
