Fair Board announces new website is online in testing phase

The Great Northern Fairgrounds has updated its website to include past meeting minutes and other information, Tyler Smith, a member of the Great Northern Fair Board said at the Board's meeting Tuesday.

He said the website draft went live Tuesday afternoon and the board would love public input about it. The new site is https://www.greatnorthernfair.net.

Smith said the website was built by Cindy Sasaki, the office manager at Rock Solid Materials Inc, a company owned by Smith.

"To me, being on these boards, it's important to get things accomplished, and so that's why we went out essentially with a draft website just to get things going," Smith said.

The new site will contain 12 months worth of meeting minutes and an events calendar that has yet to be filled out.

Smith said the board is seeking pictures of the fairgrounds and from past fairs from the public that can be sent to [email protected].

Smith said during the board meeting he would like people to visit the site and make comments and suggestions.

In other news, newly  hired fairgrounds manager Dave Brewer has been becoming acquainted with his position.

Brewer said he has been going around the fairgrounds getting a look at problems related to maintenance, electricity and water.

He said he expects the campgrounds at the fair  are scheduled to open May 1.

Brewer said he is looking over the grounds - Havre Mayor Tim Solomon, the former fairgrounds manager, and an employee from NorthWestern Energy have been very helpful, he said - doing some repairs and making plans on more work to be done.

The board also discussed upcoming events at the fairgrounds aside from the 2017 Great Northern Fair itself, including the Hi-Line Cruz'n Association's annual Show and Shine at the fairgrounds during its Rod Run and the Everything Antiques event.
