Black Powder Club holds Christmas Turkey Shoot

From Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club

The Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club held its annual Christmas Turkey Shoot Sunday, Oct. 1. at the Hill County Sports Shooting Range on River Road west of Havre.

The day saw 16 shooters participate in the afternoon event with six matches all five shots each at various distances and positions. Shooting conditions were cool and breezy most of the afternoon.

The winners of the matches were:

25-yard Pistol: 1st Dick Hanson, Havre, 46; 2nd Pete Huseby, Havre, 36; 3rd Jim Litzinger, Havre, 39x.

25-yard Offhand: 1st Dick Hanson, Havre, 42; 2nd Lacey Huseby Havre, 41; 3rd Pete Huseby, Havre, 41.

50-yard Offhand: 1st Dick Hanson, Havre, 47x; 2nd Pete Huseby, Havre, 43; 3rd Cameron Griggs, Havre, 42.

50-yard Cross Sticks: 1st Bob Doney, Havre, 45; 2nd Jim Griggs, Havre, 45; 3rd Pete Huseby, Havre, 45.

50-yard Curley Wolf Cross Sticks: 1st Jim Griggs, Havre, 38; 2nd Bob Doney, Havre 34; 3rd Brad Bender, Havre, 34.

100-yard Offhand Cartridge: 1st Cameron Griggs, Havre, 41; 2nd Jim Litzinger, Havre, 33; 3rd Pete Huseby, Havre, 31.

In keeping with the holiday spirit contestants could win only one turkey for the day. Eighteen places were paid out giving every shooter a turkey this year.
