Man crashes pickup into train

A man was arrested Thursday morning after driving his pickup truck into a train cargo car, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper said this morning.

Alcohol was involved, Trooper Zach Freeman said. The man walked away from the crash uninjured and nobody else was injured, either. The incident is under investigation and the man’s name has not been released.

The crash, which was reported Thursday at 6:27 a.m., happened at the east crossing, of 22nd Avenue North off U.S. Highway 2 East. The impact damaged the front end of the man’s pickup badly, Freeman said. He did not know if the pickup was totaled or if the damage can be repaired.

Freeman said Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC surveillance video by will be reviewed to determine if the train car was moving or stationary.
