The United Way of Hill County 2017 Campaign is here and the Meals on wheels and Senior Volunteer Program will be a United Way Funded Partner again. We would appreciate your continued support for the 2018 year. Allocations will be determined later. As a funded partner, we need your support in advocating for the United Way. Remember change begins with us. For further information on donating contact the Senior Center or a United Way representative of your choice. Use the United Way Donations forms to give to your favorite partner. You can pick up a donating pledge form at the Senior Center.

It’s Medicare Part D open enrollment time. Please check to make sure your medications are going to be covered. We are finding many changes with coverage on the various medications. This includes blood pressure medication and acid reflux medication prices going way up. One young lady who was checking her coverage thought everything would be fine because she has her coverage forever with her current company. She discovered one of her medications she has been on would cost over $2000 next year instead of $39. Educate yourself. Check your coverage. We don’t want you to be upset. We also don’t want you to have any surprises we won’t be able to help you with. You have to be your own advocate and be prepared to accept change. The change may be as simple as using another pharmacy as we’re finding $10 and $20 differences and more in just shopping around with the local pharmacies.

Senior Center Gift Shop — Come see what we have. There will be Christmas decorations and gifts, new items, gently used items, handmade gifts and much more. Our regular hours are 9 a.m. to closing. Proceeds from the sales, at this time, will be going towards the purchase of a new steam table for our center.

Seniors! We, here at the Senior Center, are hoping that Santa will bring us a new “Steam Table.” We will need one for cold serving and one for hot serving. Anyone donating to our cause, of course, will be able to use our Tax ID for a write off. We thank everyone for their help and we appreciate all of you very much.
