Correction - Park board

A story published on Page A1 of Tuesday’s edition of the Havre Daily News misreported several items. The board meeting was held Monday.

The board re-elected Steve Mariani as chair and Larry Kinsella as vice chair, and sent to the Hill County Commission and county attorney a complaint about conflict of interest of some board members.

The board heard two bids for replacing or repairing fences damaged by the East Fork Fire. To totally replace, one contractor bid $106,765, and another bid $49,368. To repair as needed, the first contractor bid $85,220, and the second bid $22,100. The board voted to approve the second contractor’s bid of $22,100 to repair the fence. The names of the contractors were not announced.

The park superintendent’s assistant did not report that the board’s Finance and Planning Committee tabled discussion on haying, campground and Camp Kiwanis fees. Park Superintendent Chad Edgar said the committee would not re-examine fees for reserved campsites until its next meeting, likely in August, and the board approved increasing haying fees by $2 to $17.
