Havre-Hill County Library summer events kick off

Summer Reading signup starts today from 9 a.m. to close. Kids can pick up their home reading record, sign up for a prize, paint a rock or draw on the walk. This summers theme is Libraries Rock. Treats provided by the Friends of the Library while they last. Story Time will take place as scheduled. Wear a musical T-shirt to earn an extra raffle entry from today until June 19 while turning in minutes.

  • Thursday, Lego Time, 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Earn a Summer Reading Raffle ticket just for showing up from June 14 to July 19.

  • Friday Block Party. Build with Legos or blocks. Earn a summer reading raffle ticket just for showing up. ( from June 15th to July 13th)

  • Tuesday Summer Matinee 3 p.m. “Goofy Movie”. When Max makes a preposterous promise to a girl he has a crush on, his chances to fulfilling it seem hopeless when he is dragged onto a cross-country trip with his embarrassing father, Goofy. Earn a Summer Reading Raffle ticket just for showing up.

• Wednesday, June 20, to Tuesday, June 26, is “Aloha Summer” Week. While turning in your minutes for the Summer Reading Program show up in a lei or Hawaiian shirt/dress and earn an extra raffle ticket for the weekly drawing.

• Tuesday, June 26, Summer Matinee 3 p.m. “Sing.” In a city of humanoid animals, a hustling theater impresario’s attempt to save his theater with a singing competition becomes grander than he anticipates even as its finalists’ find that their lives will never be the same. Earn an extra Summer Reading Raffle ticket just for showing up.

  • Wednesday, June 27,  to Tuesday, July 3, is “Country Roads” Week. While turning in your minutes for the Summer Reading Program show up in your cowboy/cowgirl attire to earn an extra raffle ticket for the weekly drawing.

• Tuesday, July 3, Summer Matinee 3 p.m. “Mary Poppins.” In turn-of-the-century London, a magical nanny employs music and adventure to help two neglected children become closer to their father. Earn a Summer Reading Raffle Ticket just for showing up.

• Wednesday, July 4, The Library will be closed for Independence Day. No Books and Babies or Story Time this week.

  • Thursday, July 5, to Tuesday, July 10, is “Of Thee We Sing” week. While turning in your minutes for the Summer Reading Program show up in your patriotic gear to earn an extra raffle ticket for the weekly drawing.

• Friday, July 6, 5:30 p.m. is Family Karaoke Night. Belt out your favorite tune in a safe environment. Earn a Summer Reading Raffle Ticket just for showing up.

• Tuesday, July 10, Summer Matinee 3 p.m. “Cats Don’t Dance.” Danny, an ambitious singing and dancing cat, goes to Hollywood and overcomes several obstacles to fulfill his dream of becoming a movie star. Earn a Summer Reading Raffle Ticket just for showing up.

• Wednesday, July 11, to Thursday, July 19, is “Thank You and Good Night” week. While turning in your minutes for the Summer Reading Program show up in your pajamas to earn an extra ticket for the weekly drawing.

• Tuesday, July 17, Summer Matinee 3 p.m. “Rock Dog.” When a radio falls from the sky into the hands of a wide-eyed Tibetan Mastiff, he leaves home to fulfill his dream of becoming a musician, setting into motion a series of completely unexpected events. Earn a Summer Reading Raffle Ticket just for showing up.

• Wednesday, July 18, noon to 1 p.m.. The Kilted Man performs. Enjoy the Celtic musical styling of Matthew Gurnsey. Earn a Summer Reading Raffle Ticket just for showing up.

• Thursday, July 19, last day to turn in minutes for the Summer Reading Program. Deadline is 5 p.m..  Turn-ins by phone will be accepted.

  • Friday, July 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is wrap day. Pick up your prizes and find out who read the most. Make an instrument and jam with your fellow readers. Treats provided by the Friends of the Library while they last. Block Party will resume the next Friday, July 27, until the end of summer.

• Tuesday, July 24, Summer Matinee 3 p.m. “Bed Knobs and Broomsticks.” An apprentice witch, three kids and a cynical con man search for the missing component to a magic spell useful to the defense of Britain.
