Herd receives Northern Montana Health Care C.A.R.E. Award

Last week, Northern Montana Health Care presented the Compassionately Achieving Remarkable Excellence - C.A.R.E. - Award to Dale Herd, PA-C, a member of the orthopedic surgery team at the Northern Montana Specialty Medical Center, or NMSMC.

Herd sees orthopedic patients alongside Dr. Michelle Donaldson and Ryan Blackwell, PA-C.

Herd was nominated for this honor by one of his co-workers. He was complimented on his communication skills, his organizational skills and his professionalism.

"Dale is the type of provider that puts the patient first, not only in the aspect of caring for them, but also helping to make the decisions about their care," said Susan Morgan, director of nursing for the NMSMC and Northern Montana Family Medical Center. "The nursing staff appreciate how humble and genuine Dale is. He is an excellent communicator, as well, which makes working alongside him a true joy."

Herd also is an excellent community member. He is very active with the local veterans' and was a driving force behind the implementation of the Veteran's Stand-Down events that were started here three years ago. He and his wife, Debra, are also members of the local Elks chapter.

Two years ago, Herd brought "Stop the Bleed" to the Hi-Line Community. Stop the Bleed is a training program designed to deal with blood loss in trauma situations, and Herd has personally trained more than 200 local community members.

As part of the presentation of the C.A.R.E. Award, Herd was presented with a special logo jacket. Nominations are now being sought for the next recipient.

The C.A.R.E. Award was started as part of NMHC's Customer Service Group, The High Five Club. The purpose of this bi-monthly recognition award is to acknowledge employees who have served at NMHC in an exceptional manner by exemplifying outstanding service through his or her work, and consistently exhibiting a positive and supportive attitude. Employees at NMHC nominate their fellow employees for this award.

Customer service is important to Northern Montana Health Care. "Being the healthcare provider of choice" is part of their mission statement. Taking the time to recognize excellence in their employees is one of the ways they try to achieve this goal.
