Grief Poem - Scrapbookin' Life

Look what was found while lookin’ ’round among our plies of stuff.

The “book” we used to jot some notes, but parting with it’s tough.

Treasured memories slipped in a book like snapshots, stickers, stamps.

A story told — OUR poem of life, Fifty-Five years of “tramps”!

Like stamps that came from far away, tell of some sights we’d seen.

We tramped or trekked “a million miles” by foot or by machine.

There’s one snapshot of us down South, our group on special trip;

We’re all dressed fine to join a dance while we sailed on that ship.

We kept in touch with scores of folks, back then it was “snail mail.”

Our finest trip was on the sea, when we saw lots of whale!

Like stickers, too, we left some marks on folks we were around.

And now we hope to leave more marks since we’re now heaven bound.

We have “snapshots” of lots of stuff, imprinted in our hearts.

From when we met to when you left, for we were still sweethearts.

There’s autographs, stickers and stamps, they fill that special book.

We know some friends who probably would, dive in to take a look!

Our old scrapbook is really great, it’s full of wonderment.

When family, friends, sneak a quick look, they’ll know where all we went!

Your life with us was gentleness, your heart so full of love.

Then God reached down and took you home, you’re with Him now above.
