Robert Edward "Jiggs" Scherer, 96, passed away at Northern Montana Hospital August 17, 2022, due to natural causes.
As per his wishes, no services will be held.

Jiggs was born September 20, 1925, one of three children, to Albert and Rose Scherer in Havre, MT. He attended school in Havre, Minnesota, and on the Hi-Line.
Jiggs married Florence Harders and together they had one son.
Jiggs enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. He was an electrician's mate 3rd class on a wooden mine sweeper. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Havre. He worked for the police department and fire department, filling in when he was needed. He was then hired by Doc Timmons as the Undersheriff of Hill County, working in the jail. He worked for the U.S. Marshall's office part-time delivering subpoenas and legal papers. He retired after 28 years with the Sheriff's office.
Jiggs was an avid motorcycle rider. He rode his motorcycle up till the age of 94. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling in his Airstream RV. He was a member of the Airstream Camper Rally group. Jiggs was a Hunter's Safety instructor for many years. He was a member of the Eagles Club.
Jiggs was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; and his 11-year-old sister Rita.
He is survived by his son, Edwin "Ed" (Lana) Scherer; granddaughter, Jennifer (Ken) Blakeley and their son, Gabriel; granddaughter, Kara (Matt) Colwell and their children, Greyson and Jackson; granddaughter, Nicole (Cory) Muncy and their children, Blaine, Faith, Sadie, and Waylon; and his sister Dorothy Nelson.
